'The Many Saints of Newark' Stars Ray Liotta & Michela De Rossi Talk 'Multilayered' Performances
Almost 15 years after The Sopranos starring the late, great James Gandolfini ended on HBO, the highly-anticipated prequel movie is finally here! Initially marketed as “A Sopranos Story” acting as a prequel to the critically acclaimed crime drama, which ran from 1999-2007, The Many Saints of Newark features a young Anthony Soprano played by Gandolfini’s son Michael Gandolfini. With young Tony growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, the movie traces the iconic character’s roots and his relationship to uncle Dickie Moltisanti (Alessandro Nivola). In an exclusive with PopCulture.com’s Tania Hussain, Italian actress Michela De Rossi (Giuseppina Bruno) reveals what attracted her to the movie (her first American role), while mafia movie legend, Ray Liotta delves deep into the mysterious, “multilayered” sides of his performance in the movie.
